Help & Support
Find answers to common questions and learn how to use Corrupt-a-File effectively.
Getting Started
Select or drag a file to the upload area
Choose your desired corruption level (Light, Medium, or Heavy)
Click 'Corrupt File & Download' to process and download
The corrupted file will automatically download to your device
Corruption Levels Explained
Light Corruption (1%)
Modifies approximately 1% of file bytes. May still be partially readable or recoverable. Ideal for testing basic recovery capabilities.
Medium Corruption (5%)
Modifies approximately 5% of file bytes. Significant damage while maintaining some file structure. Good for intermediate testing scenarios.
Heavy Corruption (15%)
Modifies approximately 15% of file bytes. Extensive damage making recovery very difficult. Suitable for stress testing and complete failure simulation.
Troubleshooting
â File won't upload
đĄ Ensure your file is under 100MB and try refreshing the page. Check that your browser supports modern JavaScript features.
â Download doesn't start
đĄ Check your browser's download settings and disable any popup blockers. Ensure downloads are allowed for this site.
â Browser becomes slow
đĄ Large files require more processing time. Consider using a lighter corruption level or a smaller file for better performance.
Best Practices
Always backup your original files before corruption
Test with small files first to understand the process
Use appropriate corruption levels for your specific testing needs
Ensure you have proper authorization before corrupting files
Document your testing procedures for reproducibility
File Size
For the best performance, work with files under 100MB.
